The Bulgarian bass-baritone Apostol Milenkov was born in Sofia. He completed his studies in opera singing at National Academy of Music. Since 2003 he lives in Vienna and works as a freelance operasinger.

Apostol Milenkov is a permanent guest soloist in the State Opera Kosice (Slovakia) and works with the National Opera in Sofia, the State Operas in Plovdiv and Varna (Bulgaria), Sirene Opera theatre L.E.O. Theatre and the Children´s Opera of the Vienna State Opera, the Opera festivals in Klosterneuburg and Hallstatt Classics (Austria).

Mr. Milenkov is also very active as a concert singer. He regularly performs with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian Chamber Philharmonic St. Petersburg, the Salzburg Concert Society, the Symphony Orchestra Moedling, the Ambassade Orchestra Vienna, the Sinfonietta Vorarlberg, the St.Stephen’s Cathedral and the Augustinian Church Vienna etc.

His professional career started with the solo part in Shostakovich’s 13th Symphony and Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis”. Now his repertoire includes the principal bass roles in Mozart’s “Figaro”, Don Giovanni”, „Cosi fann‘ tutte“, „Die Zauberflöte“, Verdi’s „Attila“, „Nabucco“, „Rigoletto“,„Don Carlo“ and “Aida”, Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” and “The Valkyrie”, Tchaikovsky’s “Iolanta” and “Eugene Onegin”, Gounod’s “Faust”, Puccini’s “Turandot”, Beethoven’s “Fidelio” and the 9th Symphony, symphonic, oratorical and chamber music works of Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Schubert, Mozart, Brahms, Dvorak, Bach, Bellini, Rossini, Orthodox chants and many others.

His own projects are, among others, “Vivat Bacchus”, “Demonic songs”, “Revelations (Beethoven, Dvorak, Brahms), “None, but the lonely heart”(Tchaikovsky), “Let my prayer arise”(Orthodox chants), “Antagonists” (Brahms vs. Wagner),Hear my music, everything is said there;(Shostakovich) etc.

 

The next engagements of Apostol Milenkov will lead him to State Opera Kosice as Zaccaria (Nabucco), il Commendatore (Don Giovanni) and Rocco (Fidelio), concerts with chamber music in Sofia,  Mozart’s Coronation Mass in Vienna, Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis” in Vorarlberg etc.
