Plamen Kumpikov is a Bulgarian operatic bass with wide repertory in many important operatic principal bass roles like Philipp II and Il grane inquisitore (Don Carlo), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Sparafucille (Rigoletto), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), Boris (Boris Goudonov), as well as Don Pasquale, Il Dottore Dulcamara (L'elisir d'amore), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Seviglia), Osmin (Entführung aus dem Serail) etc.

Currently Plamen Kumpikov is a soloist of The State Opera–Plovdiv and State Opera–Stara Zagora. 

In season 2012/ 2013 the Bulgarian bass was a soloist at Opera Wroclawska, PolandHe has successfully appeared in tours in Germany, Spain, Austria and Italy.

In 2015 Mr.Kumpikov performed at the prestigeous Herrenchimsee Festival in Germany. 

Plamen Kumpikov has performed at the National Opera and Ballet, Sofia, Bulgaria; “Teatro Alla Scala”, Milan, Italy; State Opera–Berlin, Germany, Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto “A. Belli, Italy; “La Compagnia D’Opera Italiana di Milano”, Italy; “Teatro del Complesso di S.Nicolo” – Spoleto, Italy; Teatro “Morlacci”, Perugia, Italy.

 

After obtaining a master’s degree in opera singing at the National Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria, Plamen Kumpikov attended the “Boris Christoff” Singing Academy in Rome, Italy, with full scholarship from “Franca De Renzis Christoff” and vocal teachers Mirella Peruto and Antonio Bouie.

The bass has taken part also in the masterclasses of Raina Kabaivanska and Renato Bruson.

Plamen Kumpikov has worked with renowned conductors such as Maestro Daniel Barenboim, Ljubka Biagioni, Maestro Emil Tabakov, Maestro Dian Tchobanov, Maestro Luciano di Martino, Maestro Nayden Todorov etc.
